DEKALB COUNTY, GA – The DeKalb County Tax Commissioner’s Office is collecting food items to support the Atlanta Community Food Bank this holiday season. Customers visiting any tax office location now through Nov. 20 may participate in the food drive by donating canned or non-perishable food items during office hours.
“Each year, this office hosts a holiday food drive to collect food for the Atlanta Community Food Bank and local pantries in DeKalb County. Donations are greatly needed to help support families in DeKalb County and surrounding areas,” said Tax Commissioner Nicole Golden. “Compassionate service that sustains our communities is an essential part of public service and we invite the public to join us in helping our neighbors in need.”
The Atlanta Community Food Bank works with nearly 700 community-based nonprofit partners to distribute more than 9 million pounds of donated food and grocery products across metro Atlanta and north Georgia. These include food pantries, missions, community and senior centers, schools, and healthcare facilities.
“This food drive will serve many families in need within our community, and all donated items will go directly to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. By actively contributing to the well-being of others, we help cultivate communities where people feel supported, valued, and inspired to make a positive difference,” said Golden.
Last year, the tax commissioner’s office, joined by the Solicitor’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office and the county’s Planning & Sustainability Department, collected more than 3,770 pounds of food to support the ACFB. The donation provided more than 3,440 meals for families in DeKalb and neighboring communities.
