DEKALB COUNTY, GA—Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. has elected Sonda Bradfield of DeKalb County as its 19th National President. Bradfield was elected during the organization’s Thirty-fourth Biennial Convention held in New Orleans. Bradfield served as Vice President of the national organization from 2014-2022.
Bradfield, who will serve two years in her new position, succeeds Collette McCurdy Jackson in her new role as national president. Bradfield will continue to uphold the sorority’s motto “Not For Ourselves But For Others” and its legacy of education, community service and sisterhood.
Bradfield has been a member of the sorority for over 30 years, working as a leader in the areas of membership development and strategic planning.
A resident of Stone Mountain, Georgia in DeKalb County for more than 20 years, Bradfield is a native of Moultrie, Georgia.
Bradfield holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in business administration from Georgia State University and is a Certified Purchasing Manager. She is a 44-year associate with Georgia Transmission Corporation in Tucker, Georgia and serve as Fleet and Investment Recovery Manager in the Supply Chain Services Department.
In addition to her work with Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Bradfield has been an active member of the DeKalb Section National Council of Negro Women, serving on the Legislative and Scholarship committees and Junior League DeKalb working with fund development.
Eta Phi Beta Sorority is a business and professional women’s organization, which was founded in 1942 in Detroit. For over 80 years, the sorority has provided services to improve the quality of life for individuals throughout the U.S. and Virgin Islands.
The sorority promotes and supports programs and activities designed to broaden
opportunities for women as well as and business and professional organizations with
common objectives.
The sorority’s signature program is advocacy for the intellectual and developmentally disabled community.
Eta Phi Beta also is a family organization that supports national youth groups for children ages 6-11 and youths ages 12-18. Additionally, the organization has a national auxiliary focusing on husbands, sons, and other male family members.
