DEKALB COUNTY, GA—Homecoming games dominate Week 7 of high school football including two to open play on Thursday, Oct. 1, and three on Friday at DeKalb stadiums.
The McNair Mustangs (1-3, 0-1) is hosting the Redan Raiders (1-4, 0-2) in the Region 6-3A matchup at Godfrey Stadium on Thursday. The two DeKalb teams have not played since 2023, a 33-0 Redan win. Redan leads the series 16-7 but the two teams have split the past four meetings.
In the other Thursday night homecoming game, the Cross Keys Phoenix (0-5) hosts Southwest Georgia S.T.E.M Charter School Aggies (0-4) in the game at Adams Stadium. Both teams are going for their first win of the season.
Other home games have Towers (2-4) hosting Northview (1-4) at Cobb Stadium and Chamblee (2-3, 1-2) taking on Meadowcreek (1-4, 0-3) in North DeKalb Stadium n Region 4-6A play.
Two key Region 6-3A clashes on Thursday include the Columbia Eagles (3-2, 2-0) at Lakewood Stadium to face off against South Atlanta (4-1, 2-0) and Miller Grove (3-2, 2-0) traveling to Banneker High School for a collision with Hapeville Charter (1-3, 0-1).
Three homecomings are set for Friday night(Oct. 2) in DeKalb with all having region standings on the line.
The Druid Hills Red Devils (3-2, 0-1) is hosting the Southwest DeKalb Panthers (3-2, 1-0) in Region 5-5A action at 7 p.m. at Adams Stadium in an all-DeKalb County clash. Southwest DeKalb leads the series 17-5-3 with seven consecutive wins. Druid Hills’ last win came in 1970 with a 12-7 victory. The two teams first played in 1951 with Druid Hills winning 7-6.
In Region 4-5A action, the Martin Luther King Jr. Lions (4-2, 3-1) is hosting homecoming against the Forest Park Panthers (0-5, 0-3) at Godfrey Stadium. The Stephenson Jaguars (4-1, 1-0) celebrate homecoming at Hallford Stadium with a Region 5-4A battle with the Salem Lions (1-4, 0-1).
An all-DeKalb County Region 4-6A game has Dunwoody (4-1, 3-0) hosting the Lakeside Vikings (2-3, 2-1) at North DeKalb on Friday. Lakeside holds a 16-13-1 lead in the series between the two DeKalb squads, but Dunwoody has won four of the last five including a 28-11 win a year ago.
Lithonia (1-3, 0-0) comes off a bye week to get the Bulldogs’ first taste of Region 5-5A action on the road in a doubleheader at Lakewood Stadium against undefeated Mays (5-0, 1-0) on Friday. Cedar Grove (0-5, 0-2) follows in the game at Lakewood.
