GWINNETT COUNTY, GA – A Lilburn man convicted of sexually assaulting a teen girl was sentenced to five life sentences.
A judge sentenced Gregory Leon Frazier, 52, to serve two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, followed by three consecutive life sentences with the possibility of parole.
In late July, a Gwinnett County jury found Frazier guilty on two counts of rape, two counts of aggravated child molestation, statutory rape, and aggravated sexual battery for assaulting the teen.
“This sentence is a message that this behavior will not go unpunished,” District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson said.
“It is unconscionable that he misrepresented himself as a ‘father figure’ to take advantage of a vulnerable teen.”
Over the course of two years, the former child therapist sexually abused the teen more than 50 times, according to her testimony. The teen, whom he met when she was 15 years old, was not a client. Among other forms of abuse, the jury learned that the defendant injured the girl’s genitals with a massage gun.
Frazier testified in his defense, during the trial claiming that he did have sex with her, but that he was more of a “father figure” than anything. He told jurors he didn’t want to be another man that rejected the girl. The jury also heard testimony from a second unrelated victim of the defendant with similar experiences.
Special Victims Unit Assistant District Attorney Scott Estes and law school intern Joseph King prosecuted the case with assistance from SVU Investigator Chrisina Newman and Victim Advocate Rocio Pineda.
The Gwinnett County Police Department was invaluable in closing the case, the District Attorney’s Office said.
