ATLANTA – State Rep. Doreen Carter (D-93 will host the 10th Annual “Go Red for Women” luncheon on Friday, Feb. 7, 12 – 2 p.m., at the Georgia State Capitol, Room 230.
“Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States, and raising awareness is critical to saving lives,” said Rep. Carter. “This luncheon is not just an event – it’s a movement to empower women with the tools and knowledge they need to take control of their heart health. This is more than a day of education—it’s a call to action for our families, communities and future generations. Together, we can make a difference and save lives. Let’s stand together, wear red and make a difference in the fight against heart disease.”
The “Go Red for Women” initiative is part of a national effort to highlight the importance of heart disease, prevention, and advocacy. Participants are encouraged to show their support by wearing red.
This year’s luncheon will feature speakers Dr. Jayne Morgan, cardiologist Piedmont Healthcare, Antoinette “Toni” G. Alvarado, Ph.D., founder of Harmonize Your Life Women’s Self-Care Network; and Dr. Shannon Walker , cardiologist, Emory Hospital . The three guest speakers will share their insights on heart health and prevention strategies.
“Every woman should know her risks and take proactive steps to protect her heart,” said Dr. Morgan. “Events like this help bridge the gap between awareness and action.”
Attendees also will have the opportunity to participate in free blood pressure testing and giveaways.
This event is free and open to the public. Space is limited. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early. For more information, contact Roland Carter, II at roland.carter86@gmail.com.
