ATLANTA– The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS} is inviting organizations and individuals to apply for project funding from the 2023 State of Hope (SOH) grant cycle. Projects must centered around keeping children safe, strengthening families, and empowering communities.
Through this grant cycle, DHS seeks to empower and equip Georgians in developing initiatives that support at least one of the four “Opportunity of Hope” areas – education, trauma awareness, quality caregiving, and economic self-sufficiency.
These are the priority areas DHS believes will have the greatest impact in supporting healthy families and building family protective factors to keep children safe within their families, according to state officials.
“We are thrilled to open this year’s State of Hope grant cycle for child and family well-being initiatives,” said DHS Commissioner Candice Broce. “Through State of Hope, we are committed to supporting projects that strengthen the ability of communities to support children and families so that children can thrive at home.”
This year, priority consideration will be given to ideas that promote one or more of Georgia’s Objectives for Prevention, which are economic stability, mental and physical health, increased access to early childhood education, and increased knowledge of child abuse and neglect prevention. DHS invites all interested parties to take advantage of this grant opportunity and contribute to the self-sufficiency, safety, and well-being of Georgia’s children and families.
Applications can be submitted via the portal located at dfcs.georgia.gov/about-us/state-hope. Detailed guidelines and requirements are available on that webpage. The deadline for submission is Aug. 11, 2023.
