Georgia Power is inviting Georgians to showcase their holiday light displays during its first-ever Light Up the Holidays photo contest. The contest runs through Jan. 8. Contestants may enter on Facebook or Twitter:
Facebook: Visit the company’s Facebook page and upload your photo to the #GeorgiaPowerLights app. Tell your friends and family to visit the app to vote for your picture.
Twitter: Follow @GeorgiaPower and tweet your photo using #GeorgiaPowerLights. Ask your friends and family to like your tweet.
Each week throughout the contest, Georgia Power will randomly select one winner from all entries received on both platforms that week to receive a $50 gift card. The week of Jan. 16, the company will announce two grand prize winners, one residential and one business, as well as four runners up, based solely on the total number of likes or votes received for the photo during the contest period. Each grand prize winner will receive a $500 gift card, a plaque and be featured on GeorgiaPower.com. Two residential and two business runners-up will also be selected, with each receiving a $250 gift card.
Full contest rules are available at www.GeorgiaPower.com/HolidayRules.
Throughout the holiday season, Georgia Power reminds customers that focusing on energy efficiency can help them save money and energy even as they celebrate. Simple tips for the holidays include switching to energy efficient LED decorations, which use more than 50 percent less energy than traditional decoration, and putting decorations on a timer to ensure they’re only on when people are home, or awake, to enjoy them.
