GWINNETT COUNTY, GA– A Stone Mountain man who fatally shot his ex-wife’s sister and her brother pled guilty and will now spend the rest of his life in prison for their murders.
Teodros Mulat Shibeshi, 64, pled guilty to malice murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony for the April 2024 shooting death of Tigist Lulesegud, 57, and her brother, Abebe D. Yeshetela, 65. Shibeshi was sentenced to life in prison plus 25 years without the possibility of parole.
“We hope this outcome can bring justice to Ms. Lulesegud’s family,” Gwinnett District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson said.
On April 27, 2024, Shibeshi went into the Lilburn store where the victims were working. Witnesses said an altercation started, and Shibesi shot Luluesdud multiple times, even after she went down. He then turned the gun on her brother, shooting him in the leg. A witness, who was a patron in the store, told police that the
defendant announced, “I am taking myself out now,” before pointing the gun and firing at himself. He was not successful in killing himself, however, according to the investigation.
Prior to a pending trial, Shibesi pled guilty to all charges against him, and prosecutors requested that he serve the maximum sentence of life without the possibility of parole plus 25 years.
Assistant District Attorney Selwin Patterson prosecuted the case with the assistance of Investigator Dennis Hennelly, Victim Witness Advocate Chelsey Thomas, and the Lilburn Police Department.
