LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – A Gwinnett County man was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl.
Isaiah Esquilin-Perez, 22, was convicted of three counts of aggravated child molestation, three counts of incest and one count of child molestation for attacks on the girl in April 2023 and previously. Esquilin-Perez was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences and mandatory sex offender registration.
“We pray that this child and her family are able to find resolution and healing in this verdict and sentence,” Gwinnett District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson said. “This defendant violated the trust of this family with his horrible actions. His punishment is justice for this family.”
On April 12, 2023, the girl’s parents discovered a video of Esquilin-Perez undressing himself and the girl. The parents immediately returned to their home to confront Esquilin-Perez. He fled and went to a cookout as he evaded police conducting a manhunt. On his way to the cookout, he texted the mother and said, “My bad, seriously, sorry.”
After 18 hours, Esquirin-Perez turned himself in.
The girl took to the witness stand during the trial and testified to Esquilin-Perez’s actions in his attacks on her, both on the day of the video and in previous incidents.
Gwinnett District Attorney’s Special Victims Unit Managing Assistant District Attorney Megan Matteucci and Assistant District Attorney Brad McMahon prosecuted the case. DA’s SVU Investigator Jessica Pironis and Victim Witness Advocate Rocio Pineda assisted with the case. The Gwinnett County Police Department was instrumental in closing the case.
