GWINNETT COUNTY, GA– The Gwinnett County Police Department has terminated Officer Myles Green #2474 following an internal investigation into a serious injury crash that occurred on June 5.
Following the crash, the Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit conducted a preliminary review and requested the Georgia State Patrol assume responsibility for the crash investigation.
Separate from the crash investigation, the Gwinnett County Police Department conducted a policy review of Green’s actions. That investigation determined that Green, who was responding to an emergency call for service, entered the intersection against a traffic signal without first stopping and ensuring the intersection was clear. Because Green failed to follow department policy and training that requires officers to completely stop and determine right-of-way before proceeding through an intersection against a traffic signal, the Gwinnett County Police Department terminated Green on June 22.
“The Gwinnett County Police Department is committed to serving our community with professionalism, integrity, and accountability. Protecting lives and property remains central to our mission, and that commitment extends to every person traveling our roadways,” said Police Chief J.D. McClure. “We recognize that public trust is built through consistent actions, and we hold our employees to high standards in every aspect of their service.”
Green was hired by the Gwinnett County Police Department on April 4, 2022. He graduated from the department’s 114th Academy on Nov. 30, 2022, and was released to solo patrol duties on April 1, 2023, after successfully completing field training.
The Georgia State Patrol has issued arrest warrants for Green in connection with the incident as it continues its investigation.
