DEKALB COUNTY

The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will host several Halloween events at recreation centers on Oct. 26 – 31.  Many of the festivals are free to attend and will include face painting, movies, games and costume contests. The public is invited and children are encouraged to wear costumes. For more information, call the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs at 404-371-2711.

Friday, Oct. 26

  • Lucious Sanders Recreation Center, 2484 Bruce Street, Lithonia, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. Free admission.
  • Midway Recreation Center, 3181 Midway Road, Decatur, 7 – 9 p.m. Free admission with individually-wrapped bag of candy.
  • N.H. Scott Recreation Center, 2230 Tilson Road, Decatur, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Free admission with individually-wrapped bag of candy.

Saturday, Oct. 27

  • Redan Recreation Center, 1839 Phillips Road, Lithonia, GA 30058. 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Free admission.
  • Voices of Faith Conyers Location Trunk-or-Treat, 1290 Sigman Rd NW, Conyers, 2-5 p.m. Free admission.
  •  Annual treat parade and science day set at Wade Walker YThe annual treat parade and science day be on Saturday, Oct. 27, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Wade Walker YMCA, 5605 Rockbridge Road, Stone Mountain.The event will kick off with a photo booth, crafts, games, science activities, vendors and more. Zombie Zumba demo class will take place at 11:15 a.m. along with a costume contest for ages 18 months to 12 years. The treat parade will take place at 12:20. Wednesday, Oct. 31

  • Browns Mill Recreation Center, 5101 Browns Mill Road, Lithonia, GA 30038, 6–8 p.m. Free admission with individually wrapped bag of candy.
  • Exchange Recreation Center, 2771 Columbia Drive, Decatur, 6 – 9 p.m. Free admission.
  • Gresham Recreation Center and Booster Club, 3113 Gresham Road, Atlanta, GA 30316, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Free admission with individually wrapped bag of candy.
  • Hamilton Recreation Center, 3263 Chapel Street, Scottdale, GA 30079, 6 – 8 p.m. Free admission with individually wrapped bag of candy.
  • Mason Mill Recreation Center, 1340-B McConnell Drive, Decatur, GA 30033, 6:30 – 8 p.m. Free admission.
  • Tobie Grant Recreation Center, 644 Parkdale Drive, Scottdale, GA 30079, 6 – 8:30 p.m. Free admission.

City of Lithonia

The City of Lithonia will host its annual Trunk or Treat on WednesdayOct. 31, 5:30 to 7 p.m., at the City Hall parking lot, 6920 Main Street. Participants are encouraged to decorate their cars and open up their trunks filled with treats for the kids. Children are encouraged to wear their costumes. Rockdale County and surrounding area

Oct. 24 – Nancy Guinn Memorial Library after dark

On Wednesday, Oct. 24, 8 – 9 p.m. Join the Nancy Guinn Memorial Library for a fun night out at the library, 864 Green Street, Conyers. Enjoy an evening ghost tour, spooky stories and more. All ages welcome, children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Contact the Adult Services Department to register, (770) 388-5040 ext. 118. Registration required.

Oct. 26 – Johnson Park Annual Halloween Fest

Join us for an exciting and thrilling night as we hold the Johnson Park Annual Halloween Fest. This spine-chilling family oriented event will provide a safe and fun new twist on trick or treating. With the help from the community and local businesses, families will be able to enjoy a hay ride along our trail at the park and trunk or treat in the designated areas. Portions of the trail will be a little spookier than others and activities will be available throughout the facility. Be a part of this spook-tacular night and make the Johnson Park Halloween Fest a night you won’t forget! Activities are a minimal fee.

Oct. 26 – Conyers church hosts kids’ Hallelujah Night

Children ages 5 to 18 are invited to attend the God Lights Our Way (G.L.O.W.) youth service on Friday, Oct. 26, 6 to 9 p.m. at the Greater Love Fellowship Tabernacle, 2378 Dogwood Drive SE, Conyers. Kids are asked to wear “nice” costumes only and come ready to enjoy a safe, fun night. Music selections will come from Christian hip-hop groups  R.E.B.E.L. and Th1rd L; A praise dance will be performed by Nicky Golden and the guest speaker of the evening will be Minister Becky Russell.

Oct. 27 – Panola Mountain State Park trunk or treat

The community is invited to attend a trunk or treat on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2 to 8:30 p.m., at Panola Mountain State Park, 2620 Highway 155 SW, Stockbridge.

There will also be a costume and trunk contest at 3:30 p.m., tree climb from 2-5:30 p.m. and a movie at 5:30 p.m. Entry is $5 per vehicle. For more information, call 770-389-7801.

Oct. 31 – Springfield Baptist Church Harvest of Blessings & Trunk or Treat
Springfield Baptist Church will host its annual Harvest of Blessings & Trunk or Treat on October 31 from 7pm – 9pm. Free to entire community. Lots of games, food, candy & fun. Springfield Baptist Church, 1877 Iris Drive Se, Conyers, GA 30013.
