ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA–The Development Authority of Rockdale County has named Alysa Jones, a rising sophomore at Heritage High School as the first-place winner of its video contest depicting the Best of Conyers and Rockdale County.

Jones took home the top prize–$1,500—for her work. Two other students won second place respectively at their school: Brandon Kincaid and Michael White, graduating seniors from Salem High School who each received $1,000. The third-place winner, Amirion Wooten, a graduating senior at Rockdale County High School, received $500.

Students in the Rockdale County School District were invited to create a video no longer than 5 minutes showcasing local gathering spots, lesser-known retail shops and restaurants as a way for Rockdale to draw more businesses to the area.”

“We’ve recently updated our website and required new, vibrant, and lively content to showcase Rockdale County to potential businesses looking to locate here.  Instead of hiring out for this content, we decided to offer the citizens of our county, specifically our talented students, the opportunity to create this content and also win money for college,” said Kelly Bennett, a board of Rockdale’s Development Authority.

The Development Authority of Rockdale County is primarily concerned with the Economic Development of businesses.
