CONYERS, GA–The inaugural Festive Night of Lights, a brand-new holiday celebration in the city featuring a drone show, takes place in historic Olde Town Conyers on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
To kick off the holiday season, families are invited to join in on festive fun, food, entertainment and sparkling lights. Guests will enjoy free trackless train rides and other children’s activities, take selfies with Santa, and savor delicious bites from local food vendors or dine at one of Olde Town’s charming restaurants.
Adding to the magic of the evening, carolers dressed in Victorian-styled costumes, The Christmas Carolers, will perform classic holiday tunes. The talented Heritage High School Chorus under the direction of Director of Choral Activities Terrance Green also will perform holiday favorites. The entertainment builds up to the lighting of Christmas decorations throughout Olde Town followed by a spectacular holiday drone show, the first of its kind in Conyers, to begin at approximately 6 p.m.
In partnership with Rockdale County, the city of Conyers has contracted with Open Sky Drone Light Shows to bring a dazzling drone show featuring 200 drones over the heart of the commercial district of Olde Town Conyers. Event attendees are encouraged to gather in the Entertainment District of Olde Town Conyers for best viewing of the show, which will be choreographed to holiday music broadcast from the Railroad Street corridor.
While the commercial district of Olde Town Conyers is prime and ideal viewing for the drone show, other suggested areas in the vicinity include parking at Nancy Guinn Library; behind Whistle Post Tavern (935 Railroad Street); The Book Cellar (951 Railroad Street), and parking areas at 954 S. Main Street and 977 S. Main Street.
“We’re excited to introduce a new holiday tradition in Olde Town that we hope will become a favorite among residents and visitors,” said event coordinator
Shertekia DiNardo. “It’s a special way for our community to come together, celebrate, and create lasting holiday memories.”
The annual Conyers Christmas Parade occurs two weeks later on Saturday, Dec. 6, starting at 2 p.m. from Rockdale County High School. The parade features high school bands, churches, dance groups, scout troops, civic organizations, businesses, and more, all heralding the arrival of Santa Claus at the parade’s conclusion.
