GWINNETT COUNTY, GA– The Gwinnett County Police Department has arrested a mother and daughter after they punched a Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) employee and kidnapped two children at an indoor trampoline park during a court-mandated visitation.
The mother, Starlita Moore, and her 19-year-old daughter, Teisha Schulters, were both arrested during a traffic stop in Alabama, after fleeing the scene. Moore was charged with two counts of kidnapping, interstate interference with custody, battery, simple battery, and cruelty to children in the 3rd degree. Schulters was charged with two counts of kidnapping and interstate interference with custody. Both children were placed in the custody of DFCS.
Police said the incident occurred on Nov. 8. Officers responded to 5900 Sugarloaf Parkway after a DFCS employee contacted 911 to report the kidnapping. The employee told officers that she was at the location so that Starlita Moore could participate in a court-mandated visitation with her two young children. During the visitation, Moore punched the DFCS employee in the face and grabbed the two children. The adult daughter helped get the two children into a Chrysler 300 in the parking lot as her mother continued to assault the DFCS employee, according to the investigation.
Investigators alerted local law enforcement in neighboring jurisdictions. The Chrysler 300 was located by members of the Alabama State Patrol, who conducted a traffic stop on the car and recovered both children unharmed.
