Community organizations and family members of Gregory Gallishaw will hold a Stop the Violence Rally and balloon release in Gallishaw’s memory on Saturday, June 19, at noon, 2200 Godby Road, College Park. The site is the former Old Town Villas apartment complex.
On May 28, 2017, Gallishaw noticed an individual shooting a firearm within the vicinity of children in the Old Town Villas apartment complex. Gallishaw approached the individual asking him to stop before someone was hurt. In response, the perpetrator shot Gallishaw in the back.
“My son was a loving father and he meant the world to us. We refuse to let his death be in vain. We want to remember him and stop the violence,” Marie Gallishaw, the victim’s mother, said in a statement released by the Davis Bozeman Law Firm, which is representing the family.
The following organizations will be participating in the rally, which will be held near the scene of Gallishaw’s murder to demand an end to gun violence in the South Fulton Community:
Safer Communities, Save Our Selves, Sankofa Church, SisterCare Alliance Legal and Social Justice Council, I’m A Father F1rst, Let Us Make Man, The Black Man Lab, G.R.I.E.V.E and Next Level Boys Academy.
