I look forward to working with him to continue my mission of offering thoughtful, serious legislation in Washington and providing excellence in constituent services at home.”
A nine-year veteran of Capitol Hill, Garza previously served in the offices of Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy of New York, Congressman José E. Serrano of New York, and Congresswoman Marie Newman of Illinois. During the 117th Congress, Garza rose to legislative director and chief of staff.
“Congressman Johnson is known in progressive circles as a substantive, serious lawmaker who gets things done and raises awareness of important issues before they become mainstream,” said Garza. “His work on court reform and police reform set the standard for Democrats’ policy, and his commitment to arbitration reform and consumer protection has helped the Caucus move the ball forward on these important issues. I’m honored to lead his operation in the 118th Congress and beyond.”
Garza grew up in Wauchula, Fl a rural community in Central Florida. He received his bachelor’s from Florida State University, where he majored in Political Science and International Affairs. He began his career in city government and political campaigns, including President Obama’s 2012 re-election in Florida, which led him to Washington, D.C. and a career in Congress beginning in 2013.
