ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA – Chairman Oz Nesbitt, Sr. will host the 3rd Annual Rockin Women in Rockdale EmpowerHER Brunch on Saturday, Oct. 23, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Costley Mill Event Center. The event will honor and recognize incredible women in the community who have contributed to Rockdale County’s success, organizers said.
This year’s keynote speaker will be the first African-American female Fire Chief of Rockdale County, Marian McDaniel.
Ten women will be honored at the brunch. Residents can nominate one woman who they believe deserves the recognition.
Nominations can be filled out on the county website by going to rockdalecountyga.gov/rockinwomen.
The criteria are as follows:
- The woman must be a Rockdale County resident, work in Rockdale County, or own a business in Rockdale County.
- The woman must be at least 18 years of age.
- The woman must not be a recipient of an award from the 2019 Annual Rockin Women in Rockdale EmpowerHER Brunch.
- The nomination must be submitted by a 3rd party.
Residents sending in their nomination will also be prompted to write a 100-word essay on why their nominee should be chosen. The essay must contain a description of the impact or difference the woman has made in the Rockdale County community. Along with the essay, residents will be asked to provide a short bio of the nominee.
The deadline to submit nominations is Monday, Aug. 30, 2021.
The 10 finalists, four of their guests and their nominator will be invited.
Due to limited space, the public must RSVP to attend. Those interested in attending can email Melisa Mims at melisa.mims@rockdalecountyga.gov and list their first and last name, phone number and email address. RSVP requests will be based on availability and space.
The deadline to RSVP is Monday, October 4, 2021. Walk-ins will not be accepted.
