ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA– Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) announced that Rockdale County High School (RCHS) and Heritage High School (HHS) were recognized with the College Success Award from the GreatSchools information nonprofit. This national recognition honors schools that excel at preparing students to enroll and succeed in college, as determined by available data in each state.
“This recognition both affirms and validates our district’s commitment to punctuating our students’ college and career readiness and viability,” said Superintendent Terry Oatts. “RCPS has consistently exceeded the state on both our Four-Year Cohort Graduation Rate and our CTAE Graduation Rate which further demonstrates our track record in preparing our students for postsecondary success.”
“On behalf of the Board of Education, I congratulate our high schools that received this award,” said Rockdale County Board of Education Chairwoman Pam Brown. “Preparing our students for college and career success is a top priority in our district. I am so excited to see the hard work and efforts of our students, teachers, counselors, parents, leaders and staff recognized by this national organization.”
RCHS and HHS are among 1,436 high schools in 19 states that have demonstrated a successful track record of graduating students who enroll in two- or four-year college, are ready for college-level coursework, and persist on to their second year.
