Clarence Cuthpert, Jr., Chief Judge State Court of Rockdale County, has been appointed to chair the Budget Committee for the Georgia Commission on Dispute Resolution (GCDR).
Judge M. Cindy Morris, who chairs the Georgia Commission on Dispute Resolution, appointed Cuthpert on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, the date marking his two-year anniversary as State Court Judge in Rockdale County. Cuthpert was appointed as State Court Judge by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp on Feb. 1, 2021.
The new GCDR leadership role follows Cuthpert’s appointment on April 3, 2020 by former Supreme Court Chief Justice Harold Melton as the first Probate Judge to serve on the commission.
Judge Cuthpert brings a wealth of knowledge to the GCDR from his judicial experience, nearly 25 years as a practicing attorney and 16 years as a registered neutral.
The Georgia Commission on Dispute Resolution assists the Georgia Supreme in fulfilling its Constitutional mandate by providing for the speedy, efficient, and inexpensive resolution of disputes and prosecutions.
The Commission does this by managing a statewide system that offers true and effective alternatives to traditional litigation. Those alternatives – mediation, non-binding arbitration, and case evaluation – give Georgia litigants lower-cost choices for resolving their differences, and they help save scarce court resources for those cases that cannot be resolved without judge or jury.
