GWINNETT COUNTY, GA– A Snellville man who went on a violent shooting spree attacking several former high-school classmates was convicted on multiple charges for the homicide attempts.
Jet Horne, 20, was found guilty of criminal attempt to commit a felony, six counts of aggravated assault, eight counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, three counts of first-degree criminal damage to property, and one count of hijacking a motor vehicle for three different shooting attacks between December
2024 and May 2025. He was sentenced to 30 years with 25 to serve in prison.
“We continue to pray for the victim who is undergoing physical rehabilitation and are grateful that the others were able to recover,” District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson said. “This was a violent incident in our community, and we are charged with holding people who commit crimes like these accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
The first attack happened on Dec. 18, 2024, around 11 p.m., when the defendant ambushed Talal Anash as the victim returned home from work, authorities said. Horne shot Anash, a former high-school basketball teammate, eight times, leaving him critically injured.
On March 22, 2025, Timair Walker was sitting in his car in front of his home when gunfire exploded the rear window of the vehicle. He drove away to escape injury, but a stray bullet struck a neighbor in the leg. Both Walker’s home and his neighbors’ homes were struck by bullets as well, according to the investigation.
On May 16, 2025, Maalik Leitch – another former teammate – arrived home when Horne jumped from a nearby wooded area pointing two handguns and demanding the keys to Leitch’s BMW. The defendant drove away in the vehicle, and when police began to pursue him, he abandoned the car and fled on foot. Police eventually tracked him down with the aid of a K-9.
In court, the jury learned that investigators were able to link all three incidents by comparing ballistics collected from the first two shootings and the handguns recovered from the stolen vehicle in the third incident.
Assistant District Attorneys Laura Trejo and Nam Nguyen prosecuted the case with assistance from Investigators Benjamin Lucas and Bernard Monti and Victim Witness Advocate Trina Bradford. The D.A.’S Office stated the Gwinnett County Police Department was invaluable in helping to prosecute this case.
