Voters will return to the polls on Tuesday, March 9, to decide the winner of the runoff Special Election to fill the House District 90 seat formerly held by longtime Georgia legislator Pam Stephenson, who stepped down due to health issues.
Stephenson’s daughter used a power of attorney to announce her mother’s resignation last September.
The two Democrats vying for the seat are former State Rep. Stan Watson and Angela Moore, a public relations specialist.
House District 90 includes parts of DeKalb, Henry and Rockdale counties.
According to the Secretary of State’s Office, 3,008 voters cast ballots in the Feb. 9 election with Watson leading with 28.22(849 votes) percent of the vote and Moore following with 16.95 percent (510 votes). Since neither of the two top candidates in the crowded 6-way race received more than 50 percent of the vote, a run-off was necessary.
