STONE MOUNTAIN, GA- First Stone Mountain United Methodist Church is accepting pre-registration for its 2024 Grow Days program. The free summer enrichment program is open to children in the Stone Mountain area who are entering grades 1-6.
The program will be held on Thursdays — June 6, 13, 20, and 27– 3 to 6 p.m., at the church, 5312 W. Mountain Street. Enrollment is limited to 25 children.
Activities will include one-on-one reading with an adult mentor, Bible stories, craft time, music, a service project, games and a light supper.
A spokesperson for the church described Grow Days:
“Reading is a fundamental benefit for our children who are so often connected to and distracted by their electronic devices. Grow is a time that the cell phones are put away, books are selected to read, and a friendly adult spends quality time with them. In addition, they experience kitchen skills, apply artistic skills such as using leaves, vegetables and paint. They will have an opportunity to serve their community by making soup kits for the Stone Mountain Food Cooperative and play some games that don’t involve an electronic device.”
