ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA–Nothing says summer quite like sticky fingers from shaved ice and a chalk-covered sidewalk masterpiece—and that’s exactly the vibe families enjoyed at the Conyers-Rockdale Library’s Summer Reading Kickoff on Saturday, June 7.
Hundreds of families turned out for the day-long celebration designed to spark young imaginations and encourage children to make reading a summer priority. The library lawn was buzzing with laughter, games, and colorful creativity as kids participated in sack races, face painting, chalk art, and yard games. The sweetest part? Every child left with a swag bag full of summer treats and reading goodies.
The fun doesn’t stop there. The library invites young readers (adults can log hours, too) to register for the Summer Reading Program by signing up through Beanstack—either at the library or via the app at home. Participants can log reading minutes to earn badges and enter prize drawings. Paper logs are also available for those who prefer a hands-on approach.
While supplies last, every new registrant will receive a summer reading goodie bag, and families can explore grade-level reading recommendations by visiting the Rockdale County School summer reading list.
