DEKALB COUNTY, GA–Following an order issued by the DeKalb County Superior Court, DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections (DeKalb VRE) extended voting times until 7:40 p.m. at Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church, 3142 Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker.
All voters who arrived at Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church by 7:40 p.m. on Election Day were permitted to cast a ballot, even if a line had formed.
“While we were able to resolve a technical issue at the Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church polling location, there was a 40-minute delay for some voters earlier today,” said DeKalb VRE Executive Director Keisha Smith. “We want to thank the voters for their patience and the poll workers for their diligence as we work to ensure every eligible voter has an opportunity to cast a ballot on Election Day.”
In an earlier order, DeKalb VRE announced Solid Rock AME Zion Church would remain open until 7:39 p.m. Voting at all other DeKalb County polling sites closed at 7 p.m. Voters in line by 7 p.m. were permitted to cast their ballots at those locations.
“An early morning operational delay resulted in a 39-minute delay for voters,” said Smith. “Overall, we have experienced a relatively smooth Election Day thus far and look forward to quickly addressing any issues that might impact our voters casting ballots today.”
