LITHONIA, GA–Tony Royal, owner and operator of Robert’s Soul Food Restaurant, presented the inaugural Robert’s Soul Food Restaurant Scholarship in the amount of $500 to Amyra Sabir in honor of the late founder, Michael E. McClinton.
Additionally, Mrs. Marilyn McClinton joined Royal at Martin Luther King Jr. High School to present the Michael E. McClinton Memorial Book Scholarship in the amount of $250 to Amyra in memory of her husband. The young Kennedi Ray, joined her grandmother in presenting the scholarship in her “Papa’s” honor.
“It was important to me to continue to reinvest in the community in which I serve. One of those ways was to create a scholarship especially for employees of Robert’s Soul Food Restaurant upon graduation from high school,” said Royal. “Moreover, I wanted this presentation to be in honor of my dear friend, Mike, who cared so much for young people as well everyone in the community.”
Robert’s Soul Food Restaurant, located in Lithonia, gives back to the community in many ways including weekly Bingo and Fun as well as special events such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Easter, Valentine’s Day, and Christmas affairs. The restaurant also partners with nonprofit organizations to serve the underprivileged in the East DeKalb, Conyers, and metro Atlanta areas.
