Urgent: Rockdale County Water Resources issues Boil Water Advisory Aug. 4
ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA–Rockdale County Water System has issued a Boil Water Advisory effective 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026.
A water main break in Rockdale County on Tuesday has nearly half of the county under a boil water advisory. The water main break, which was caused by a private contractor working in the area, led to an outage in the Sigman Road and Rockbridge Road areas. The contractor accidentally damaged a 12-inch water main near the intersection, resulting in low water pressure for customers in the affected areas.
Rockdale Water Resources crews responded and repaired the damaged water main, restoring normal water services at approximately 1 a.m. on Aug 5.
The advisory applies to customers in the northern portion of Rockdale County, specifically the service area north of Interstate 20 (I-20). The Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure that may have affected the system’s water quality.

Rockdale County Water System is actively investigating the cause of the event, restoring normal system conditions, and collecting the required bacteriological samples.
The advisory will remain in effect until the Georgia EPD requirements have been satisfied and laboratory results confirm that the water is safe for consumption. Updates will be provided when the advisory is lifted, county said in a press release.
