New Birth’s King’s Table food pantry to host final 2020 distribution on Dec. 19

Free toys to be distributed to 1,000 pre-registered needy kids 

STONECREST–The King’s Table, in partnership with New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, will host its final food distribution on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 10 a.m., just ahead of the Christmas holiday.

The weekly food distribution, which has served 545,000 people and provided more than 20 million pounds of food, will mark the conclusion of a nearly year-long effort to curb food insecurities caused by the global pandemic.  The King’s Table is housed on the New Birth campus located at 6400 Woodrow Rd. in Stonecrest.

To date, The King’s Table drive-thru distribution has provided families with more than $3 million in food, supplies, essential medical supplies and household items, thanks to vast public and private partnerships with Atlanta Community Food Bank, World Vision, Trader Joe’s, Publix, Food Depot, Tyson Foods, Athena Farms, Pepsico, Borden Milk, Cumberland Dairy, Farmers & Fishermen Purveyors, GA Foods, Sysco, Hormel. DeKalb County government and the Stonecrest Cares program have also partnered extensively with The King’s Table, providing relief resources to help feed thousands of local families each week.

On Saturday, more than 350 volunteers will support The King’s Table in providing hearty, healthy Christmas meal boxes comprising of fresh fruits, produce and protein. This Saturday will mark The King’s Table’s 40^th week of food distribution in 2020.

“What we’ve seen since we began these distributions in the spring is that we’ve been able to supply a true need for the community,” says Pastor Jamal Bryant, senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. “And unfortunately, that need is growing, with the continued economic downturn and the fast-approaching end-of-year expiration of federal relief programs. It’s a blessing that we can help when families need it the most.”  

A Wakanda-themed toy distribution  

Following the food distribution on the church’s campus on Saturday, Dec. 19, New Birth will host a Wakanda-themed toy distribution for 1,000 pre-registered youths. Donations for the event came from World Vision, The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation, Gates Industrial Corporate Foundation and more.

New Birth’s Christmas City at Wakanda will supply holiday cheer to children of incarcerated parents and other families in need this holiday season. The drive-thru event will feature animal figurines, decorations and other Christmas décor items.
