GWINNETT COUNTY, GA – A man arrested for attempting to sell more than 4 grams of methamphetamine to undercover police officers will serve 18 years in prison, the Gwinnett District Attorney’s Office announced today, March 2.
Asa Phillip Daniels, 46, was found guilty of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and felony
possession of methamphetamine after attempting to sell more than 4 grams of the illegal narcotic to an undercover police officer.
Superior Court Judge Tracie Cason cited Daniels’ previous history of felony convictions in handing down the sentence.
“We do not want these drugs in our community, and we hope this verdict and sentence makes that message
abundantly clear,” District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson said.
On July 14, 2025, Daniels was arrested after Duluth police officers found more than 4 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle he was driving. Evidence revealed to the jury audio surveillance of Daniels making a verbal offer to sell the narcotics.
Assistant District Attorneys Selwin Patterson and Joe Morales prosecuted the case with assistance from
Investigators Dennis Hennelly and Chris Lymber and Victim Witness Advocate Chelsey Thomas. The Duluth
Police Department was invaluable in helping to prosecute this case.
