ATLANTA—Partnership for Community Action, Inc. (PCA) is accepting appointments for residents seeking bill payment assistance provided by the Low-Income Heat and Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
The PCA serves residents of DeKalb, Gwinnett, Newton, Rockdale, and Walton counties only. The agency began accepting appointments for eligible households to apply for help on May 1. This round of funds is not exclusive to seniors but open to the general public who meet income requirements.
The federally-funded program provides bill assistance to pay for heating and cooling costs for eligible households. The payments are sent directly to utility companies on behalf of those who meet income requirements set at 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines or 60% of the state median income, or whichever is greater.
Due to high call volume, those who need help are urged to schedule appointments through the PCA website, whenever possible.
Appointment Information
Appointments will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while funding is available. Limited walk-ins will be accepted at service locations.
An appointment does not guarantee assistance. Clients should continue making payments on their electric bill until assistance is approved and posted to the account.
Required Documents
Those seeking assistance are required to have the following:
- Photo ID for the applicant
- Social Security cards for all household members
- Proof of income for all household members age 18 and older
- Current electric bill
