GWINNETT COUNTY, GA–– The global industrial group, Socomec, marked a major milestone on May 6 with a ribbon cutting of its new facilities at 2935 Shawnee Industrial Way in unincorporated Suwanee.
This event celebrates Socomec’s expansion and investment of $10 million in Gwinnett County and the creation of 300 jobs.
Socomec specializes in power switching, monitoring, conversion, and energy storage, as well as expert services that support each business area. Socomec launched its U.S. subsidiary in 2009 and has since invested in local manufacturing, resources, and product development, allowing for the group to support the evolving needs in the North American market with a combination of local expertise and global support.
“Opening our new facility in Georgia marks a major milestone in Socomec’s growth in North America,” said Michele Putignano, President and CEO of Socomec North America. “The state’s strong talent pool, infrastructure, and business environment make it the ideal location to accelerate innovation, support the energy transition, and advance our commitment to sustainable development while delivering greater value to our customers.”
Partnership Gwinnett led the project in coordination with the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s (GDEcD) Global Commerce team, the Metro Atlanta Chamber, Georgia Quick Start, Georgia Power, and Gwinnett County Government.
“Georgia continues to attract job creators across a variety of innovative industries,” said Gov. Brian Kemp. “We are looking forward to Socomec’s new presence in the Peach State and the opportunities this investment will bring for Georgians in Gwinnett County.”
Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson emphasized the local impact of the project.
“Socomec’s investment reflects the strength of Gwinnett’s workforce and our ability to support global industry leaders,” Hendrickson said. “The creation of 300 jobs and continued investment in advanced manufacturing reinforces our commitment to economic growth and opportunity for our residents.”
Kevin Carmichael, Senior Vice President of Partnership Gwinnett, praised Socomec’s investment in Gwinnett.
“With the opening of its new facility and the creation of high-quality production and operations roles, Socomec’s impact in Gwinnett powerfully reinforces our standing as a global hub for business growth, talent and community,” said Carmichael. “Gwinnett County is home to more than 24 French-based companies employing nearly 1,000 workers, reflecting strong international ties, continued global investment in the metro region and advancing innovation.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony brought together state and local officials, economic development partners, and business leaders to celebrate the milestone and tour the new facility. As Socomec ramps up operations, the company is expected to play a key role in supporting energy infrastructure needs across North America.
