ATLANTA— The Atlanta Press Club Loudermilk-Young Debate Series will host a runoff debate for Georgia’s U.S. Senate. Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker have been invited to participate in the Nov. 21 debate. The runoff is Dec. 6.
Journalists from across the state will serve as panelists questioning the candidates.
The debate will air live on Monday, Nov. 21, 7 p.m., on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
The debate also will be available for viewers to watch live on GPB.org and The Atlanta Press Club Facebook page www.fb.com/TheAtlantaPressClub.
The Atlanta Press Club does not determine the topics nor the questions that will be asked. According to Atlanta Press Club’s long-time policy, if a candidate does not appear, he will be represented by an empty podium.
“Elected officials in an American democracy are expected to field questions from the media,” said Ken Foskett, Atlanta Press Club Board Chair. “The Atlanta Press Club believes voters learn about a candidate’s readiness for office by his or her willingness to face questions from reporters in a debate.”
