DEKALB COUNTY, GA—Four of the eight DeKalb County teams in the GHSA high school baseball state playoffs begin play today (APRIL 23) with Chamblee as the only host team.  Chamblee (17-10) plays host to the Coffee Trojans (25-5) in a Class 5A best-of-three series beginning with a doubleheader at 2:00 pm today at Chamblee High School. The Bulldogs finished as the No. 2 seed in Region 4-5A to earn the host role. CONYERS, GA—The city of Conyers is gearing up to present its second performance in its new, free concert series. The May 11 concert features the rock and roll sounds of Mother’s Finest, an Atlanta favorite and Georgia Music Hall of Fame inductee, with opener Leah Belle Faser performing songs with pop, country, rock and folk influences.  DECATUR, GA— DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management (DWM) crews and contractors will work throughout the night to repair a 42-inch-diameter water main on McLendon Drive, officials announced at 10:20 p.m. on April 22. Crews have assembled a trench box to keep workers safe in the area to be excavated for the repair. Traffic control specialists are directing traffic near the repair site where a lane is closed. DWM distributed bottled water to affected homes in the area earlier today. DeKalb County will continue to provide updates during the repair. ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA—Rockdale officials held a groundbreaking ceremony today, April 19, for the county’s long-awaited judicial and administrative complex. The $140 million project will include the construction of a three-story courthouse building with over 100,000 square feet, the renovation of the existing courthouse annex and the construction of a two-story parking deck with 240 spaces, which will serve the courthouse and downtown Conyers. DEKALB COUNTY, GA–Following an executive session today at its two-day board Retreat, the DeKalb County Board of Education unanimously approved a two-year extension for Superintendent Dr. Devon Q. Horton. Board members also exercised the year three option in his original contract.  Horton is now set to lead the DeKalb County School District through June 30, 2027.
