ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA– Rockdale County Emergency Management Agency will open a warming center for the community over the next few days, as an artic blast powers its way across the country. The warming center will be open in the evenings from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on January 6-21 at the Conyers First Methodist Church. Anyone in the warming center must arrive for intake between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Wearing a mask and social distancing are highly recommended. DEKALB COUNTY, GA—DeKalb County Police Department is asking the public’s help in locating Steven McBride, 8. He was last seen today, Jan.15, around 11:30 a.m. leaving his home near the 1900 block Rosewood Road in Decatur. It is believed that he was chasing a dog heading in the area of Candler and McAfee Roads, police said. The child is 4’7, 75 lbs. with black eyes and black hair. He was last seen in a dark gray shirt, black pants and red/black shoes. Anyone who sees Steven McBride, should call 911 or Special Victims Unit at 770-724-7710.
DECATUR, GA–City Schools of Decatur has continued to monitor the weather due to the potential of severe weather conditions. After consultation with local and state officials and the National Weather Service, CSD will shift to virtual learning tomorrow, Jan. 16. DEKALB county, GA–Due to the Severe Weather advisory, DeKalb County Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024. An artic blast is expected to bring temperatures below freezing as well as freezing rain throughout Georgia. All school and athletic events are also canceled. “Student and staff safety remains a top priority. We will continue monitoring weather conditions and resume normal operations as weather conditions permit,” the DeKalb County School Districted stated in a news release.
