DECATUR, GA– The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit, with assistance from the U.S. Marshal’s Office, has arrested a suspect in the murder of a man in Stone Mountain, Georgia last year. The Sheriff’s Office arrested 19 year-old Atlanta resident Jamarcus Jones on June 27, 2023 at a Stonecrest, Georgia residence where the female occupant, allegedly an acquaintance, was living illegally and was being evicted. Jones was taken into custody on warrants charging him with the Dec. 26, 2022 shooting death of Joshua Reed on Russwood Avenue in Stone Mountain. No probable cause was given. ATLANTA –MARTA’s public art program, Artbound, announces the selection of four artists for the creation of eight mosaics to be installed on the platform levels at Five Points Station. The mosaics will serve as both navigational aids and visually striking art pieces. The artists, selected from a pool of over 150 candidates, will bring their creative vision and unique perspectives to the Northbound, Southbound, Eastbound and Westbound platforms at Five Points. DECATUR, GA– DeKalb County is making recreation centers and libraries throughout the county available as cooling centers Friday, Saturday and Sunday due to a heat advisory. As defined by the National Weather Service’s Peachtree City Forecast Office, a heat advisory is issued when “feels like” temperatures are expected to reach or be greater than 103 degrees, or when the actual air temperature is expected to be at 105 degrees or greater. DECATUR, GA— DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson is presenting his free concert series again this summer at the Rainbow Park Amphitheater, 3181 Rainbow Drive, Decatur. The “Thriving Thursday” finale is June 28 featuring Malcom Jamal Warner, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of HipHop through jazz.
