ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. – Rockdale County Department of Transportation is holding a ribbon cutting for the newly replaced Rockbridge Road/Lake Capri Bridge. The ribbon cutting will take place on Dec. 9, 10 a.m. on Rockbridge Road and Lake Capri Bridge. DEKALB COUNTY, GA—Today, DeKalb CEO Michael Thurmond’s plan to provide a one-time, $1,500 retention bonus for non-sworn frontline employees was unanimously approved by the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners. Stonecrest City Council appoints CFO Gia Scruggs as Acting City Manager, after mayor breaks tie vote
STONECREST, GA—During a special-called meeting on Nov. 14, the City Council approved the appointment of the city’s Chief Financial Officer Gia Scruggs to serve as acting city manager. The council deadlocked on the vote 2-2, but Mayor Jazzmin Cobble used her authority under Georgia’s Senate Bill 21, which changed the city’s charter to permit the mayor to vote when there is a tie. STONECREST, GA –City officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Nov. 14, 5:30 p.m., to celebrate the purchase of its City Hall, located at 3120 Stonecrest Boulevard. The City of Stonecrest’s Urban Redevelopment Agency (URA) purchased the building from Stonecrest Center LLC for $5.8 million. The 54,000-square-foot building, which housed City Hall, Strayer University and other tenants, was originally listed at $6.5 million, according to a press release. The transaction, which closed on Oct. 31, was financed by the URA’s issuance of $6,050,000 in aggregate revenue bonds, the press release stated.
