STONECREST, GA—District 5 City Council member Tammy Grimes soared to victory on Tuesday in her bid for re-election. Grimes dominated the three-way race, receiving 69.38% (981 votes) sprinting far ahead of her challengers—Barbara Hall, who received 26.80% (379 votes), and Ryan Gallagher, who received 3.39 percent (48 votes). More voters turned out for Grime than any candidate running for the three seats up for grabs in the city. A total of 1,415 people out of 8,789 eligible voters cast ballots in District 5.  Grimes  received 981 of those votes, according to unofficial results. STONECREST, GA—Stonecrest Councilman Jimmy Clanton will face challenger Tara Graves in a runoff for the District 1 seat on Nov. 30. Graves, who is seeking public office for the first time, led Tuesday’s race with 41.94 % (325 votes). Clanton trailed with 37.68% (292 votes), according to unofficial preliminary results released by DeKalb County elections officials. Because neither received more than 50 percent of the vote, a runoff will be held to determine the winner. DECATUR, GA- DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston announces a conviction by jury trial in the case against a Stone Mountain, Georgia man accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a young relative. Jurors returned guilty verdicts on Oct. 29 against 34-year-old Zachery Myers on charges of Rape, Child Molestation, and multiple counts of Incest and Aggravated Child Molestation.   The charges against Myers date back to 2016 when the female victim, then 11 years old, was in the Defendant’s care at his Stone Mountain home.
