ATLANTA — The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), administered by the local Community Action Agency (CAA) throughout Georgia with funding provided by the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, will be available beginning Nov. 1, 2021. The federally-funded program assists low-income elderly and disabled Georgians with heating bills through direct payments to home energy suppliers. Beginning today, residents aged 65 and older or those who are medically homebound can apply for assistance through the Division’s LIHEAP. DECATUR, GA – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 23-year-old member of the agency’s jail operations staff. Decatur resident Keontey Damond Brown is accused of Violation of Oath of Office, Going Inside of Guardlines, and Sexual Contact by Employee or Agent in the First Degree, all felonies.  According to arrest warrants, Brown allegedly brought contraband to an inmate and engaged in verbal and physical sexual contact with an inmate while working as a detention officer.  Brown’s employment with the sheriff’s office has been terminated. Crews to replace 160 linear feet of aging water pipe   DECATUR, GA– On Nov. 3, a portion of the northbound lane along Briarcliff Road, crossing North Druid Hills Road between QuikTrip and Chick-fil-A, will be closed Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Crews will work to replace 160 linear feet of ductile-iron water pipe.
