The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit has arrested 20-year-old Roy Jackson in connection with the robbery and murder of a man in Stone Mountain, Georgia in December 2020. Jackson is accused of Armed Robbery and Felony Murder in the shooting death of old Siah Gray, 20, of Stone Mountain on Dec. 22, 2020 at a Wake Forest Road residence in Decatur. According to warrants, Jackson directed another man, Chevaz Barnes, to shoot Gray, then took money and drugs from the victim’s pockets. Photos altered due to profanity. ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA – The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hate incident targeting Mexicans. On July 11, 11:10 a.m., deputies responded to the 2600 block of Twin Oak Drive about a hate incident. Deputies observed profanity and derogatory wording directed toward the Mexican community spray painted on the outside of a home as well as several vehicles parked in the home’s driveway. TUCKER, GA– On July 14, contractors working on behalf of DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management will temporarily interrupt water service to properly replace a damaged water line. The work will take place overnight from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. to lessen the impact to residents, businesses, and commuters at the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Northlake Parkway. This is an opportunity for DeKalb County residents to learn how their police department works. During the eight-week virtual program, which will begin on Aug. 25, participants will be given a departmental overview, which will include crisis intervention, police scenarios, use of force policies, and more.
