DECATUR–North Decatur Road, between East Rock Springs Road NE and Villa Drive NE, will be closed to through-traffic Tuesday, Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to facilitate the removal of a tree at 1209 North Decatur Road NE, Atlanta. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions.

ATLANTA—The City of Atlanta announced the opening of an emergency warming center in anticipation of frigid temperatures. The center will open tonight, Dec. 7,  6 p.m. and will remain open through Tuesday at 11:00 a.m., Dec. 8. The warming center is located at the former Ramada Hotel, 450 Capitol Avenue S.E., Atlanta, GA 30312. Transportation will be provided from the Gateway Center, located at 275 Pryor St. SW, Atlanta. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit, working with the U.S. Marshals Office, today arrested a 15-year-old suspect in the murder of a Decatur man on Oct.16, 2020. According to the arrest warrant, the juvenile suspect allegedly shot and killed 22-year-old Trevion Jones-Tolbert at a Decatur residence during an attempted robbery. The juvenile suspect was taken into custody without incident on a charge of Malice Murder and transported to a regional youth detention center. DeKalb County Elections Director Erica Hamilton ‘Count on DeKalb’ efforts shift to runoff elections   DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections (DeKalb VRE) has completed the state-mandated recount within the deadline, wrapping up the recount on Dec. 2.
