STONECREST—New Birth Missionary Baptist Church is taking its first steps to in-person worship by convening a drive-in style Sunday worship service. On May 31, Pentecost Sunday, Senior Pastor Jamal Bryant will welcome parishioners back to the Stonecrest campus to participate in a live service from the comfort and safety of their personal vehicles. The GBI is investigating a DeKalb County officer-involved shooting that occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. today, May 24. The incident occurred at a convenience store located on 3800 block of North Decatur Road, spokesperson Michaela N. Vincent said in a news release. One person, a male, was injured and transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. No one else was injured. The incident has been turned over to the GBI and is under investigation.
