Raccoon retrieved on the 1800 block of Gainsborough Court DeKalb County Animal Control is warning the public to pay close attention to pets that they allow outdoors after retrieving a raccoon in the 1800 block of Gainsborough Courtthat later tested positive for rabies. Georgia is a rabies endemic state and the virus is present all year long. It is not unusual for the county to report several rabies cases each year. In an effort to provide additional resources to aid in the COVID-19 response, the DeKalb County Board of Health will temporarily close the North DeKalb Health Center, located at 3807 Clairmont Rd. NE in Chamblee, at the close of business on Friday, April 3. The North DeKalb Health Center joins the East DeKalb Health Center in temporary closure status, which began at those close of business on Friday, March 27. City of Chamblee Police Department is investigating a rash of car break-ins that occurred at Windsor Apartment Homes. The break-ins occurred in the early morning hours on March 26. All of the vehicles had forced entry and various items were stolen. The suspects included two black males driving a Mercedes Benz, which was stolen from Buckhead on the same night as the break-ins at the apartment complex. The King’s Table, which feeds approximately 1,000 people each week, opens  ach Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at New Birth’s Family Life Center.
