ATLANTA- As part of the 45th Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs and Amazon are presenting this year’s Late Night Jazz Concert with drummer extraordinaire Lil John Roberts and vocalist Chae Stephen. The concert takes place during the Atlanta Jazz Festival weekend on Saturday, May 28, 10 p.m., at Piedmont’s Park Tavern.
“We’re thrilled to support the Atlanta Jazz Festival and Late Night Jazz Concert as we celebrate a truly unique genre of American music, and bring world-renowned artists our community,” said Terreta Rodgers, Amazon’s Head of Community Affairs in Atlanta. “The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs is reimagining how Atlanta experiences our history of jazz music, making this partnership a natural fit for us.”
The evening, curated by Lil John Roberts, is a musical tribute to the Motown legend, Marvin Gaye. Chae Stephen will provide the sultry sounds from the stage and perform a selection of Marvin Gaye’s greatest hits.
Lil John Roberts is an Atlanta staple and one of the most sought-after drummers in the music industry. He has performed on stages with some of the biggest names in music history including Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, George Duke, Dianne Reeves, Patti LaBelle, Queen Latifah, Yolanda Adams, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, BeBe and CeCe Winans and many others.
Atlanta Jazz Festival is regarded as one of the largest free jazz festivals in the country. An annual celebration of the music, culture and art of jazz begins in April and culminates each Memorial Day weekend, with an outdoor festival featuring jazz artists from all over the world.
