STONECREST, GA—The City of Stonecrest has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the third consecutive year.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) presented the award for the city’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2019. As a part of the award, a 2019 Award of Financial Reporting Achievement (AFRA) pendant will be placed on the GFOA plaque in the city hall lobby.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a city government and its management, according to Mark Levine, GFOA director. GFOA judged the city’s CAFR using an impartial panel to assess the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the city’s financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report, Levine said in an award statement.
“We hope that your example will encourage other government officials in their efforts to achieve and maintain an appropriate standard of excellence in financial reporting,” Levine said.
Stonecrest Mayor Jason Lary lauded the city’s three-year track record for financial excellence.
