ATLANTA – Warrants have been issued for Deamrkis Barber, 31, of Conyers and Kamaria Berry, 28, of Decatur in connection with an insurance fraud case where victims were scammed by a fake insurance company set up in Rockdale County.
Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. said Barber is wanted for eight counts of Insurance Fraud and eight counts of Theft by Deception.
“The suspect created a fraudulent insurance company under the name of Dirt-Cheap Insurance,” said Commissioner King. “The suspect then had the victims of his scam pay insurance premiums through Cash App, although his company was not valid, and proceeded to use the money for his personal use.”
Berry is wanted for one count of Theft by Deception.
“Ms. Berry allowed Deamarkis Barber to use her Cash App, connected to her bank account, to facilitate the exchange of funds for an insurance policy with the fraudulent company.”
