DECATUR, GA— DeKalb County District 2 and 6 commissioners invite the community to join them to discuss the proposed Brookhaven annexation.
Residents are urged to attend a series of community meetings to discuss the proposed annexation of neighborhoods (refer to the map for specific neighborhoods) into the City of Brookhaven. The annexation petition, which has reportedly passed the 60 percent threshold required to proceed, was received by the county last week.
The proposed annexation, if approved, would be the largest in Georgia’s history to be accomplished through the 60 percent method. The City of Brookhaven has previously annexed nearby Lavista Park in 2019. Community meetings will provide a crucial platform for residents to gain understanding of the annexation proposal, ask questions, and voice their concerns:
• Community meeting: Tuesday, June 27, 6:30 p.m., DeKalb D2 & D6 Board of Commissioners, Central DeKalb Senior Center, 1346 McConnell Drive, Decatur, or virtually via www.YouTube.com/DeKalbCountyGov.
• Public Hearing: Wednesday, June 28, 6:30 p.m., Brookhaven City Council, City Hall – Peachtree, 4362 Peachtree Road, Brookhaven.
• Vote on Annexation: Tuesday, July 25, 7:00 p.m., Brookhaven City Council, City Hall – Peachtree, 4362 Peachtree Road, Brookhaven.
