ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA– The Rockdale County Board of Commissioners is seeking about 35 residents to serve on the citizen oversight committee for the 2023 SPLOST for Transportation, Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, Parks and Recreation, and Courthouse. Meetings will begin in April 2023 with ongoing meetings at J.P. Carr Community Center, 981 Taylor St., Conyers.
The SPLOST Oversight Committee is a group of volunteer citizens who work with County staff to prioritize and oversee the completion of the projects as funding from the 1 percent sales tax is collected. The SPLOST Oversight Committee also provides input and oversight to ensure that the SPLOST program is implemented in an expedient, organized and responsible manner.
In the past, Rockdale Citizens have provided oversight for the 1992, 1996, 1999, 2005, 2011 and 2017 SPLOST programs and will continue to be a critical part of the engagement with the community and the transparency concerning the programs
