CONYERS—Rockdale County voters elected incumbent Judge Gary Washington as Probate Judge tonight in a three-way race, unofficial results show. Washington received 59.41(2,701) percent of the vote, avoiding a runoff in the special election. Justin Kenney received 36.12 percent(1,642) and Kathy Harvey came in third with 4.40 percent 200).
Turnout was low: 4,546 of 64,269 (7.07%) registered voters cast ballots in the June 15 special election, unofficial results showed.
An elated Washington thanked voters for their support.
“Wow. I cannot even find the words to say other than, thank you. We did it. We won without a runoff!,” Washington said in a statement.
“You donated. You called. You knocked doors. You told your friends. You voted. You believed in me. You made the difference. Thank you.
“I look forward to continuing my service to Rockdale County. I will carry with me in my heart and in my mind the support you gave to Evetta, Kiana and me. Rockdale, we did it. I appreciate you.”
