The Rockdale County District Attorney’s Office has received numerous inquiries and requests regarding the March 12, 2018 death of Shali Tilson, 22, and the May 27, 2018 death of Jamie Henry, 40. Both died at the Rockdale County Jail. In the interest of keeping the Rockdale community informed, the Rockdale County District Attorney’s Office is providing this update.
On June 13, 2018, the Rockdale County District Attorney’s Office received the results of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations’ (GBI) examination into Shali Tilson’s death.
Rockdale County District Attorney Alisha Adams Johnson is in the process of thoroughly reviewing the evidence provided by the GBI. After completely reviewing all evidence, a decision will be made on whether or not to pursue formal charges.
The circumstances surrounding the death of Jamie Henry are still under investigation by the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO). Upon receipt of the RCSO’s investigation, the District Attorney’s Office will review all findings and make a decision regarding the filing of charges.
At this time, there is no further comment on either case.

Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Morgan for this latest update. We are praying for the families.
With all due respect, your comments are soft and not up to par regarding ” waiting
on the RCSO investigation report”. week… You have the ability to do your OWN
investigation.. Do not hind behind Sheriff Levitt or his so called men of the cloth that go around and try to throw their weight around to support the Sheriff, instead of the dead or those that can not speak for them selves. Even now the Sheriff has made phone calls to protesters in an attempt to silence them by threats of quote , ” Be careful who you are standing next to” What a cowardly thing to do to a elderly woman. Don’t try to deny it, you want to here it on CNN
give me a call, tell me what you had your deputy say to Mrs. Dean.
Yes I am the one that called Starbucks and had your silly coffee with Sheriff shut
down. Shame the citizen did not see the two Sheriff cars that was in accidents as I was told and you did not even show up.
Why not allow the news, family members, or anyone come see your jail? Is it true
or not that a third inmate died in your jail, under your care? Before we were just
seeking truth, but you are not allowed to threaten anyone, period.
D.A. Johnson be bigger and better than this Sheriff and do you own investigation.
His word is worth little and lives are at stake.
Respectfully,
Garvin Haynes
Thank you Mr. Haynes, why is this all occurring if there was nothing to hide why are they acting this way?????
I think we need a new sheriff as well as a new district attorney
Any update from GBI?
When will the residents of Rockdale County and the families of the inmates who died in the Rockdale County jail this year be informed of the results of the D.A.’s investigation? What changes,if any, will be implemented at the jail to prevent future deaths there?
