DEKALB COUNTY, GA—Officials began mailing tax bills for City of Atlanta properties in DeKalb County on Sept. 15 for the 2025 tax year.

Nearly 15,000 bills were mailed by the tax commissioner’s office to property owners with a due date of Nov. 17. Bills also can be accessed online at publicaccess.dekalbcountyga.gov.

In addition to City of Atlanta, nearly 250,000 DeKalb County property tax bills were mailed in August. Owners paying the full amount at once can do so by Sept. 30 to avoid late fees; owners paying in two installments have until the Sept. 30 and Nov. 17 deadlines.

“Tax bills are not mailed to mortgage companies by the tax commissioner’s office. Property owners should contact their closing attorney, mortgage company, escrow agent, or review their closing statement to determine who is responsible for paying the taxes,” said Tax Commissioner Irvin Johnson.

“If you are a property owner who has not received a bill, please contact the tax office. The non-receipt of a bill does not relieve the owner of the responsibility to meet payment due dates,” said Johnson. “Property owners may also sign up for billing notifications online at publicaccess.dekalbtax.org to avoid delays. To opt in, click the Sign up for E-Alert button on the property information page.”

To avoid long lines and wait times, payments can be made online, by phone or secure drop box. There is no service fee for paying by e-check; however, processing fees apply for credit/debit card payments. Drop box payments must be received by the due date (cash not accepted). Mailed payments must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service by the due date; metered or kiosk postage dates are not accepted as proof of timely filing. For more information, visitDeKalbTax.org/property-tax.

In-person service is available at the Memorial Drive property tax office from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., and the Clairmont Road and South DeKalb Mall satelliteoffice locations from 8 a.m. – 4:30 pm.

    Know before you go:

    • First installment is due Sept. 30; second installment is due Nov. 17. If you’re paying the total amount due in one payment, it must be paid in full by Sept. 30.
    • City of Atlanta properties in DeKalb County payment is due Nov. 17.
    • Bring your tax bill stub and a valid Georgia ID or Georgia driver’s license.
    • Acceptable payment methods include credit/debit card, check or money order. Processing fees apply for credit/debit card payments.
    • Parking is available near the UGA Extension Service lot facing Memorial Drive. Disabled customers may use the Property Tax entrance off Northern Ave.
    • Security screening is required for service.

Payment methods for current and prior year taxes:

    • ONLINE: Visit publicaccess.dekalbtax.org. Credit/debit card payments are accepted; processing fees apply. There is no service fee for paying by e-Check.
    • PAY-BY-PHONE: Call 770-336-7500, Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM. Credit and debit card payments are accepted; processing fees apply. There is no service fee for paying by e-Check.
    • DROP BOX: Secure drop box available at all three office locations. Payment must be placed in the box by the due date; cash not accepted.
    • IN PERSON: Central Office at 4380 Memorial Dr., Decatur, GA 30032; North Office at 3653 Clairmont Rd., Chamblee, GA 30341; South DeKalb Mall at 2801 Candler Rd., Suite 66, Decatur, GA 30034.
    • MAIL: Must be postmarked by the USPS by the due date to avoid late fees; metered or kiosk postage dates are not accepted as proof of timely payment. Please consider alternative payment methods due to ongoing mail delivery issues.

“If you’re planning to pay property taxes in person, please pack your patience. Lines will be long for customers paying the week of an installment deadline,” said Johnson. “If possible, consider payments by phone or online using an electronic check to avoid delays.”

All payments made in the office, by phone or online may take 24-48 hours to appear on the website.

Due to volume, payments received by mail during payment season may take up to a week to post once received. If you do not see your payment posted online, please contact the property tax office before placing a stop-payment on a check. Cancelling a payment may result in a late fee and non-sufficient fund fee.

For more information about the Tax Commissioner’s office, please visit www.dekalbtax.org or call 404-298-4000.
