DECATUR, GA–DeKalb County Voter Registration and Elections (DeKalb VRE) will host a candidate workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 17, to support individuals interested in running for local public office. The workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the DeKalb VRE office, located at 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, Decatur.
The free workshop will provide an overview of DeKalb County candidate qualifying requirements, campaign signage placement rules, key election dates and deadlines, and how to navigate election services.
Candidate Qualifying for the 2026 General Election Cycle will take place Monday, March 2, through Friday, March 6, 2026.
DeKalb County elected offices appearing on the 2026 ballot include:
§ DeKalb County Commissioner — Districts 2, 3,7
§ DeKalb County Board of Education — Districts 2, 4,6
§ Judge of State Court of DeKalb
§ County — Divisions A-1, A-2, A-4, A-7, and B-10
This workshop is intended for individuals who live in DeKalb County and are interested in qualifying for these specific offices. Prospective candidates are encouraged to attend to ensure they are fully prepared to meet qualifying requirements and deadlines.
“This workshop is an important opportunity for individuals who are considering public service to better understand some key components of running for office,” said Keisha L. Smith, executive director of DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections. “Our goal is to ensure that prospective candidates have access to clear, accurate information and feel prepared to engage confidently with the election process.”
